The Medal of Everlasting Life by Anita Samaniego-Avella is based on the item from the Book of Life. That movie starts by showing how important it is to remember family hence the reference to the day of the dead. In the movie the two main characters La Muerte and Xibalba make a bet that love always wins. Early on Xibalab cheats and gives one of the young boys a medal. The medal is known as "The Medal of Everlasting Life". The medal is enchanted and magical and the person who wears if is protected from injury, harm and death.
Anita said that her brother passed on October 31st 2006 and the church allowed him to be buried on one of the holiest days of the year on the day of the dead. She honors him every year and and February 6th 2024 would have been my brothers 50th birthday. This medal is a way she will be honoring him this year.
