The Big Boots at Northstar Mall are one of my favorite parts of the season. When the star lights go up on the boots, you know that it's time to be merry and bright! We pay tribute to this in our Big Boots Christmas Ornament for 2023, our sixth in a series of papel picado ornaments. There are a limited number of silver and gold versions of the boots ornament.

The Boots hold a special meaning, because back in 2019 I helped Ray Linares make a Fiesta Medal that lit up and in the process got to connect with the artist behind the boots, Bob "Daddy-O" Wade. If there's one personality that is as big as the boots, it was Daddy-O. While I never got to meet him in person before his passing over the holiday season in 2019, he was incredibly kind to me and it was amazing to hear some of his stories. 

The Big Boots Christmas Ornament was licensed with permission from Lisa Wade and $1 from every ornament sold will also be donated to the San Antonio Food Bank.
